If you can’t tell by my recent posts, i’m in the mood for cottaging/camping! Wakefield cottage officially in 14 days and I CAN HARDLY WAIT!
I don’t know if this happens to you but for me, once i’ve spent some time away from the city and get a taste of living in nature, I realize how pointless most things are in city life. And i’m a true city girl. I hate squatting to pee and not taking a shower or having a proper area to brush my teeth. But I have to say, to experience life without it even just for a few days is very important for the soul. Especially to live without incessantly checking your cell phone for missed calls/text messages, looking through emails and facebook, inspecting yourself in the mirror making sure you look socially appropriate, buying new clothes to keep up with fashion trends. How tiring… What’s the point? When you are out and away from the routine of your life you realize what’s really important. In the country you don’t need to worry how you look, you don’t have a mirror. You don’t have the constant stream of advertising telling you to be this way or that way. You’re too busy canoeing, or swimming or reading a book and tanning by the water. It’s a wonderful self esteem booster! And to get away from all the technologies of day to day life is like a cleanse. It really is wonderful to escape the busy, consumerism-driven life we lead and jump into a cool lake of Ontario and take a swig of some Alexander Keith’s. With the label removed of course, ha!
